Things To Do In Metro Minnesota & Member Bed and Breakfast's
The Metro Region of Minnesota, home to our incredible Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, along with the incredibly beautiful St. Croix River Valley, is also home to a variety of Minnesota Bed and Breakfasts. Without a doubt, Minneapolis and St. Paul are two of the most interesting cities in the country. And, though we commonly refer to them as the “twin cities,” thereby lumping them together as one entity, they are actually very distinct, each with their own characteristics and midwest charm.
Head to Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs, and you’ll find a city that favors broad boulevards and modern architecture. St. Paul, on the other hand, has mostly narrow streets and well-preserved late Victorian homes. Despite these differences, the entire metro region of Minnesota is home to friendly citizens, thriving arts communities, first-rate museums, and of course some incredible food and plenty of beer.
There’s so much to explore in the metro region of Minnesota that you’ll definitely want to spend at least a couple of days here. Our metro-based Minnesota Bed and Breakfasts are the perfect place to call home while you’re here, too. If you’re looking to spend a little time in nature, there’s no need to leave the city. Take a stroll through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, or bike, walk, or paddle in the renowned Chain of Lakes Regional Park, which features 67 acres of land and 344 acres of water. Beyond just having great biking and walking trails, the Chain of Lakes Regional Park is also home to popular summer concerts at its bandshell. And, of course, don’t forget Minneapolis’ famed Minnehaha Falls, located in one of Minneapolis’ oldest and most popular parks, Minnehaha Regional Park.
For a little more city-based fun, make sure you tip a hat to the Mary Tyler Moore Statue in downtown Minneapolis, before heading for some interactive fun at the Science Museum in St. Paul. The twin cities are also incredible arts communities, with more theater-seats available than any other city in the country besides New York. One of the most popular theaters, The Guthrie Theater, attracts top-notch performers throughout the year. The Fitzgerald Theater, built in 1910 and restored in 1986, is the home for Garrison Keilor’s popular show, Prairie Home Companion, among other internationally acclaimed acts as well.
All of this, and we haven’t even talked about food (or beer), yet! Some of the finest chefs in the country call Minneapolis/Saint Paul home, and most of them are using local and organic produce whenever possible. There’s a wide variety of cuisine available in the metro region, too, so it’s easy to cap off the perfect day in the Twin Cities with a great meal, before retiring for the night at one of our Minnesota Bed and Breakfasts.
Though the Twin Cities are great, they aren’t the only reason to stay with one of our metro-based Minnesota Bed and Breakfasts. It’s amazing how quickly the hustle and bustle of the Cities disappears into the relaxing suburbs of the Twin Cities. Just west, Lake Minnetonka is irregularly shaped with numerous bays, peninsulas, and islands that form approximately 125 miles of shoreline. To the south, the popular Mall of America beckons shoppers inside, and to the east, you’ll find the stunning St. Croix River Valley. The river valley and the surrounding areas provide excellent boating and fishing, along with popular activities like wine tasting and taking a river cruise on the St. Croix River, all the while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
As always. the Innkeepers at our metro-based Minnesota Bed and Breakfasts are your best resource when it comes to finding the best things to do in the area.
