Spring in Duluth
Sometimes, one of the hardest things about visiting Duluth is choosing which activity to do.  You really could hike or bike for days without getting bored of the scenery and the adventure.  But don’t worry about that; you’ll just have to come back and visit us again! As the ice begins to break up on Lake Superior, it’s crystal clear waters open once again. The snow begins to melt from the mountains, seemlessly transitioning from a season of skiing down the hills, to one of challenging trips up them. If you’re visiting us in Duluth this spring, here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy spring in this rugged lakeside city:
- Tour Glensheen Mansion, and get a taste of Duluth’s elegant history.  Built between 1905 and 1908, it boasts 39 rooms and gorgeous English-style landscapes. Get a breath of fresh air on Glensheen’s walking and hiking trails, and visit the vintage pier.
- Take a hike!  One of the most popular hikes in the area is, of course, the Superior Hiking Trail. The Superior Hiking Trail is truly incredible, and worth every second you spend on exploring the length of this trail.  At times, it doesn’t even feel like your in a city, but rather deep in the North Woods, far away from civilization.
- Take a brewery or city tour with The Duluth Experience.
- Take a tour of Duluth’s Maritime Museum, a fantastic museum full of fascinating maritime history; admission is free!
- Enjoy a scenic drive along Scenic Hwy 61, taking your first stop at Brighton Beach (Kitchi Gami Park). Of Duluth’s shorelines, this is one of the most rugged and beautiful. Don’t miss a stop at the spectacular Split Rock Lighthouse and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Even if the lighthouse isn’t open for tours, you can visit the grounds and enjoy the trails and iconic views along this portion of Lake Superior’s shoreline.
- Visit Tweed Museum of Art, located on the campus of UMD.
