Summer Festivals
Summer isn’t even half over yet. Â It’s a great time to get outdoors and see this beautiful area. Â Before you know it, the colder temperatures of fall and winter will be back, and your summer adventures will have to be put on hold for another year. You can easily fill an itinerary of things to do in Duluth that will keep you busy, and leave you tired at the end of the day. Â When you’re ready for something maybe a little less adventurous, these summer festivals are a great alternative:
Bike Festival
The Kraus-Anderson Bike Duluth Festival is one of our favorite events of the year. Â The summer festival takes place August 12-13, 2017, and is a tremendous way to experience the 85 (and growing) miles of biking trails around Duluth. Â The weekend is packed with both mountain biking and road biking events, and is suitable for riders of all backgrounds. Â The official maps haven’t been released yet for this year’s event, but the 2016 mountain biking map should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. Â All events take place on Spirit Mountain. Â Come see why Duluth is considered a national mountain biking destination, and see why
Dragon Boat Festival
The 2017 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival will take place on August 25-26th, and once again promises to be a fantastic celebration of paddling and beautiful Lake Superior.  Interestingly enough, Dragon Boat racing is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world, and our summer festival in Duluth is one of the biggest of its kind.  The festival takes place on Barkers Island, and includes races, plenty of live entertainment, and lots of fun.  Not only is it a fun event, but the Dragon Boat races also raise money for Twin Ports Rotary Clubs and the Essentia Health Foundation.
Car Show
On August 2 -6, join the citizens of Duluth at Spirt Valley Days, the largest gathering of classic cars in the Northland.  Thursday evening kicks off with a parade of cars, followed that weekend by a street dance, family-friendly activities at Memorial Park, a canoe and kayak tour of the St. Louis River, and the Western Garden Tour.  All together, the Spirit Valley Days are a wonderful celebration of Duluth, with plenty of food, activities, vendors and live entertainment to enjoy.
At the A.G. Thomson House Bed and Breakfast in Duluth, having fun is part of the experience. Â Come join us for a few days this summer, and take your experience to the next level with one of Duluth’s remaining summer festivals. Â Book your room today!
