$50 voucher at Classic Rosewood Inn and Spa is one reward for participating in local river clean up and seed collection. The real reward though is the good feeling from such fine environmental work where you will be able to see an immediate difference.
Low water levels of Autumn allow for better clean up of waterways. So Friends of Mississippi have organized a River clean up of the Vermillion River in Hastings. Other partners are the City of Hastings, Dakota Country Soil and Wter Conservation District Vermillion River Watershed. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided as will lunch. The date is Saturday September 20th from 9 am to noon but registration is required by Wednesday September 17th. Register with Sue at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651-222-2193 x 14.
Now that you are in shape from all the bending and stretching from the river clean up, (we call it River Yoga), come and help collect native seed Saturday September 27th from 9 am to noon in the Sand Coulee in Hastings. Learn to identify and then help collect seed in the Sand Coulee Scientific and Natural Area, a rare sandgravel prairie reminiscent of the original Minnesota landscape and home to 13 rare plant and animal species. Seed will be used for further prairie restoration. Again register with Sue at email@example.com or 651-222-2193 x 14.
Friends of Mississippi will give you a card to contact the innkeepers at Classic Rosewood for your $50 voucher. >
