Wabasha will be celebrating its Sesquicentennial Wednesday, June 18, with a community picnic in Malone
Park from 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be minnow races, door prizes, face painting and Jolly Jump for the kids. The firemen will have water fights, the National Eagle Center eagles will be on hand, and the mayor and council members will be targets at the dunk tank.
Viola has their 134th annual Gopher Count, June 18 and 19. Yes, they do count gophers. They also host a 5K run/1 mile walk, food stands, carnival rides, a talent contest, fireworks display, soap box derby, pie eating contest, ladies’ nail driving and tug of war contests, races, and dancing. It’s the best parade around, because it goes around twice!
Nelson will be “Fishing for a Cure” with the 5th Annual Sheephead Classic, Saturday, June 21, benefiting children’s cancer research. In addition to fishing, they’ll have charcoal grilled chicken, a backe sale, door prizes and raffles, pie throwing, and live music.
Lake City hosts Water Ski Days June 27, 28, and 29. They advertise a replica hunt, art festival, family day, volleyball tournament, classic car and tractor show, penny hunt, kickball tournament, cow milking contest, dunk tank, bean bag tournament, paddleboat rides, bingo, karaoke, a Venetial boat parade, a 5K run/walk, pancake breakfast, and water ski show! >
