The Loghouse & Homestead Bed & Breakfast on Spirit Lake is an ideal place for birdwatching, thanks to the nearby wildlife refuges and the abundance of bird houses and bird feeding stations on the property. One bird in particular that can be found there is the Indigo Bunting.

Another bird listed under ‘least concern’ conservation status, the Indigo Bunting is a very unique bird in that it migrates at night and navigates by the position of the stars. The males of the species have the brilliant blue color, while the females are a dull brown. Late April/early May marks their migration back to the States as they return north for the summer, and continue to breed through September before flying south.
If you’re looking to spot an Indigo Bunting, the right time for it is quickly approaching! You can find this bird, and many more, while staying at the Loghouse & Homestead Bed & Breakfast Inn. >
