Enjoy a guided bird walk through the prairie and woods of the Loghouse and Homestead on Spirit Lake. Our property is located within one of the few places in the world where 3 biomes meet: Prairie, Deciduous, and Coniferous. Therefore we have 3 habitats to enjoy a unique variety of birds all on one property. Our land also boasts 2 wetlands, 1 mile of private lakeshore and 3 miles of hiking trails. Watch the active Bald Eagle nest from each private lakeside balcony off of each room and suite. We offer an unique opportunity to enjoy a guided walk after breakfast to observe Bluebirds, Bobolinks, Scarlet Tanagers, Warbles, Indigo Buntings, Golden Winged Warblers, and 7 different species of Wood Peckers including the majestic Pileated, among so many others. Enjoy views of Spirit Lake from our shoreline where Loons, Pelicans, Great -Blue Herons and waterfowl can be viewed. We are also located on the migration flyway and are able to see the Trumpeter Swans, Snow Geese, and dozens of arctic birds heading north for the summer.
Our guide, Judd brink, has a B.S. in Natural Resources Management with guiding experience with the Kirtland Warbler Recovery Project in Grayling, MI. He has been a birding guide in Minnesota and much of the Midwest for over 20 years.
