Peak fall foliage color often reaches the Twin Cities area in mid-to-late October each year.
Trees that put on a fabulous Yellow fall color show include: aspens, basswood, beeches, birches, butternut, elm, maples (boxelder, mountain, silver, striped and sugar), mountain ash, poplar, willow. Trees that sparkle in Reds include: sugar maples, black, red, scarlet, and white oaks, sumac.
Both black and white oak trees throw off colors of varying shades of brown and yellow. While many fall shows that incldue a variety of purples come from white ash and witch hazel.
